Hope for the Hypocrites
Is there hope for the hypocrites –
people like me
GRACE
and the chance to be free?
When we fall
there’s no grace
because we always said it was wrong.
We’re supposed to know better
or call nothing else sin.
JESUS,
I’ve heard in You there’s hope.
Can you set us free
from the idea that we’re supposed to be perfect?
I just want to be the woman weeping and kissing Your feet.
She loves You and needs You
and I know that she’s saved
and she’s been set free.
I know I’ve been wrong – never meant to deny it.
Just wanted to be good
Wanted to be right
And somehow there’s two kinds of people here
HEROES AND VILLIANS
Villains, they’ve told us, can change and make good
But heroes, if fallen
Can they be redeemed?
For me, I can’t bear to have fallen from grace . . .
THE OLDER BROTHER
they said
is the one we are like
But there’s no grace for us
when we’re the prodigal child.
Isn’t that what Paul was?
He thought he was good
but really, on hatred was all that he stood.
God didn’t abandon him
Condemn him and
LEAVE.
He opened his eyes
and then set him free!
So, he taught all have sinned
and can all be redeemed.
Stop calling me
GOOD
If all that it means
is a scarlet letter of judgement
every time I break.
HELP ME BELIEVE
I don’t have to be perfect
because I know Jesus paid the price for me.
When I say that I need Him
I say that I’ve sinned.
Isn’t that the opposite of what a hypocrite is?
So, I’ll stop pretending
that I’ll somehow earn this,
and embrace the grace
He’s already given
Hope for the hypocrites –
PEOPELE LIKE ME.
